William J. LaHendro (AKA) “The Judge”, passed on to eternal life on August 23, 2022 at the UVM Health Network – Elizabethtown, NY, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease, with his loving family at his side.
He was born to Joseph & Margaret (Burgly) LaHendro on July 2, 1949 in Vergennes, VT. Bill graduated from Moriah Central School and Hartford School of Business with an accounting degree. Bill married the love of his life, Brenda (Mauran) on June 19, 1971 sharing 48 years together.
While in college he was an officer for the Village of Port Henry Police Dept. Upon graduating from college his first job was at the Potter and Telling Accounting Firm. For several years, he was an insurance representative with John Hancock. Later working as a quality control specialist for NYCO Minerals until retirement. For 28 years, he served as a distinguished Town Justice in Westport, retiring in 2018 due to failing health. Also serving on the Board of Deacons at the Westport Federated Church, past President of the Essex County Magistrates Association, and member of the NYS Magistrates. He was also a volunteer member of the Westport Fire Dept., and Sisco Masonic Lodge.
Leaving to cherish his memory is his beloved son, Brendan and companion Marci Smith. A grandson Shayne O’Neil and companion Tabby Gordon. In- Laws Sam & Derinda Sherman, Irving & Cheryl Mauran, Sandra McQueen and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceasing him in life his beloved wife Brenda, his parents, brother Paul LaHendro and brother in law Donald McQueen.
Bill loved life, camping and laughter. He will be remembered by his vast member no of friends and acquaintances as loyal, kind, helpful and a true gentleman.
Calling hours will be September 2nd from 5 to 7pm at Heald Funeral Home at 7521 Court St., Elizabethtown NY. A celebration of life service will be 10:00 AM September 3rd at the Westport Federated Church at 6486 Main St., Westport NY.
Memorial Donations have been designated to the Westport Federated Church or the Westport Emergency Dept.
