William Larry Baumann passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on February 3, 2025. Born on March 31, 1947, in Hagerstown, MD, Bill was a lifelong adventurer who embraced life with humor, generosity, and an unwavering love for his family and friends.
Bill's journey through life was rich with experiences that shaped him into a remarkable man. After enlisting in the United States Army, he proudly served in the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1974, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. His time in the military instilled a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried with him throughout his life.
For 35 years, Bill shared his life with his beloved wife, Mary, whom he met while working at Maryland Ribbon. Their partnership, built on mutual respect and affection, shone brightly until Mary's passing just three weeks before Bill's departure. Together, they had three daughters Tomi Jo Posey, Anna Jean Prichard, and Robin Davis.
Bill was known for his fascination with the world around him-a true "fountain of useless knowledge." He dabbled in various interests and loved to spend time outdoors, cooking, and building wooden toys as a hobby. His ability to get along with everyone made him a beloved figure within his circles.
With a robust career in security, Bill worked diligently at Mack Truck in Maryland for eight years and later at R & R Trucking in Plattsburgh, NY. His strong work ethic and dedication served as an inspiration to many.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Mary; as well as his parents Joseph and Hollie Baumann.
He is survived by his daughters Tomi Jo Posey, Anna Jean Prichard, and Robin Davis; and his sisters Donna Royce and Debbie Kline; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Bill will be held at a later date.
Arrangements were entrusted to Heidrick Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
