Vietta M. Scaife, 77, of Keene, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Saranac Lake Hospital. She was born on November 5, 1944 in Blossburg, PA the daughter of Lyle and Callie (Ingalls) Erway.
Vietta was employed as a head cook at the Keene Valley Neighborhood House for 35 years until she retired. She also worked at the Barkeater Inn and Abbott’s Motel in Keene. She was a licensed school bus driver in PA and NY and active member of the Jay Baptist Chruch.
She is survived by two sons Theodore Scaife of Keene, Steve Scaife of Keene and one daughter Betsy Scaife of Keene, a brother and three sisters Ivan B. Erway of Mansfield, PA, Sylvia Dillenback of Vesta, CA, Katie Freemanm of Enoroe, SC, and Callie (Lyell) Drake of Lindonville, NY,and Sister-in law Barbara (Dennis) Engen of Arazonia.
5 grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Pamela and Faith, and Josh
She was predeceased by her husband Francis Scaife and one sister Willma Dawson and brother Lyleton Erway
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the Jay Baptist Church on Saturday December 4th at 11:00am Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to Jay Baptist Church, Jay NY 12941.
