Vernon A. Pierce passed away peacefully June 22, 2021 at home with his wife Linda by his side. Vernon was born October 31, 1936 in Wadhams, NY to Raymond and Emily Pierce.
He graduated from Westport Central School, the Class of 1955. After serving in the Army, he returned home to Wadhams to own and operate a dairy farm raising many breeds of cattle including his favorite Jerseys.
Vernon's family worked alongside him in the hay fields, sugar woods and the cow barn. Many conversations were had by the barn door. He looked forward each year to the Essex County Fair, working the horse pulls, watching the cattle shows, and visiting with people you only see once a year. He was exceptionally proud of all the grandchildren. He formed meaningful bonds with each one of them.
Besides his parents Vernon was pre-deceased by his brother Alvin, sister Susan and stepson Gene Mosley.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 16 years Linda, daughter Judy French and husband Lennie, son William Pierce, son John Pierce and wife Melissa, and stepdaughter Linda Forbes and husband William.
Grand children Ethan French, Emily French, Ian Pierce, Owen Pierce. He was also a loving grandfather to Elysha Mosley, Kelsey Bevins and William Forbes IV.
A graveside service will be held at the Reber Cemetery Thursday July 1, 2021 at 11:00 am.
