Sonja J. Aubin, 84, of Elizabethtown passed away November 23, 2020 at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital. Sonja was born on April 10, 1936 to the late Floyd “Dubb” and Hattie (Bronson) Cassavaugh in Elizabethtown.
Sonja graduated from Elizabethtown-Lewis School and was employed there in later years as well as the Adirondack History Museum. She was known for her love of writing “Growing Up Strong” and her paintings, always seen with a camera in hand. She loved the fall season but not as much as the love and laughs she shared with her children and grandchildren, family and friends. She drew much strength from her devoted faith.
Sonja is survived by her husband Claude of 65 years, children, Wesley, Leslie (Linnie), and Denise, brother, Eugene (Isabelle) Cassavaugh and sister, Sharon (Wayne) Garvey. Grandchildren: Whitney (Mark) Denton, Cassy (Steve) Ryan, Tyler (Adiri) Aubin, Ariella Aubin, and Doe Denton, many nieces and nephews and many loved in-law family members.
Sonja was predeceased by her parents, daughter Cindy Lou and son Dennis, brothers, Earl, Erwin (Joan), and Everett Cassavaugh and sister, Sandra (Joseph) Robetoy.
A graveside service will be held at the Lewis Cemetery on Saturday, November 28 at 11 a.m.
