Shirley Drollette Carter, 84, passed away on December 8, 2020 at her home in Plattsburgh after a brave battle with cancer. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Born March 10, 1936 in Plattsburgh, NY, Shirley was one of 3 children born to the late Arthur and Mabel (Rock) Drollette.
Shirley had a passion for quilting and her beautiful creations can be found adorning the beds of family and friends. She was a creative soul who enjoyed the challenge of repurposing discarded items giving them a new purpose. She took pleasure in reconnecting with her cousins later in life and meeting new people in her senior citizen groups. Many will remember her work in respiratory therapy at CVPH.
Predeceased by her parents; husband, Bernard Carter; and brother, Francis (Junior) Drollette. She is survived by her brother Gary of Cadyville, NY, her daughters, Julie (Klaus) Chamberlain, Fulton, NY; Jaye (Chris) Bull, Cadyville, NY; Collette (Tom) Barnard, Clifton Springs, NY; Jill (Peter) Corral, Palm Bay, FL; and her son Eric (Cheryl) Carter, Schuyler Falls, NY. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Brandon and Jordan Downs, Erin Hernandez and Hilary Barnard, Kristy and Ashley Carter as well as great grandchildren Shawn Rainey and Griffin and Hadley Downs.
