Sheridan LaDuke, Sr.

Sheridan LaDuke Sr., known affectionately as "Shorty", passed away on November 9, 2023, at the age of 82. Born on December 21, 1940, in Plattsburgh, NY to Leo and Lucy (Macey) LaDuke. Shorty spent his entire life dedicated to his family and his profession. He resided in West Chazy, NY, where he created a lifetime of cherished memories.

Shorty was raised in Standish, NY, and it was there that he developed his strong work ethic and sense of community. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Wanda, and together they embarked on a journey in Beekmantown to raise their loving family.

With great dedication and skill, Shorty served as an Operating Room Technologist for an astonishing 42 years, adding two additional years as an orderly at the Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital in Plattsburgh. His expertise and commitment touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues, making him a highly respected member of the medical community.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Shorty had a deep love for sports. He was an avid fan of both the New York Yankees and the New York Giants, always cheering them on passionately and sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends. Whether it was discussing game strategies or analyzing player performances, talking sports with him was always filled with laughter and lively conversations.

Shorty's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted father to his sons Sheridan Jr. (Tina), Stephen, and daughter Cheryl (Mike) Palmer. His role as a grandfather brought him immense happiness, and he took pride in showering love upon his grandchildren, Amanda (Nick) Bloomingdale, Andrew (Christen) LaDuke, and Veronica LaDuke.

Shorty was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda, his son Stephen, and his siblings.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service following at 6:00 p.m. at Heidrick Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh.
