Shawn S. Gay

Shawn Gay, 47, passed away at his home in Willsboro on June 16th, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Plattsburgh on June 25, 1972, the son of Otis and Jean Gay.
Shawn was a 1992 graduate of Willsboro Central School. He worked at Camoplast in Plattsburgh for 18 years and finished his employment years at Sunset Farms in Essex. Shawn was a tremendous family man and a loving father. His family and friends will always remember him as a crazy, free spirited man. His love for the outdoors and having a fire with friends to relax was what he always looked forward too.
Shawn is survived by his parents, Jean and Otis Gay of Willsboro; his partner Sheri Shepard, his children, Tracie Gay (Gabe Palmer) of Westport and Bryce Gay of Elizabethtown; his siblings Krissy Leerkes (Brad Leerkes) of Willsboro and Charlie Gay (Lori Kimball) of West Chazy; his grandchildren Ava, Elliot and Rowan Palmer of Westport; nieces Peyton and Paige Leerkes of Willsboro; nephew Justin Gay (Kendall) of Midland TX; cousin Devon Jaquish (Lisa Jaquish); a very special aunt that was like a second mother, Mary Green (Buddye Green); and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Shawn was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Robert Gay and Evelyn Gay, maternal grandparents Christine and Harmon Provost, nephew Wesley Gay and cousin Corey Jaquish.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday June 24, 2020 in Memorial Cemetery, Willsboro.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Mary Halloran and the UVM Elizabethtown Health Center Staff for the immense compassion and care provided to him during his final years.
