Sandra Mildred Ferebee, known affectionately as Sandy, passed away on May 21, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, love, and dedication. Born in Au Sable Forks, NY, on May 30, 1943, Sandy dedicated her life to serving others as a Licensed Practical Nurse, a role she cherished and excelled in.
Throughout her career at the Clinton County Nursing Home, Sandy's kindness and care touched countless lives. She was known for going above and beyond, often bringing patients home for holiday meals if they didn't have families of their own. Her commitment to her profession could not be faltered, and she found great pride and fulfillment in her work, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Married for over 50 years to her husband John, Sandy's family was at the center of her world.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.She is survived by her children Cassandra (Jeff) Barcomb, Margaret (Mark) Hanson, Daniel Ferebee, and Kristin (Jack) Sogluizzo; her beloved grandchildren Marcus Hanson, Patrick Barcomb, Anthony Hanson, Christopher Barcomb, Nicholas Sogluizzo, Andrew Sogluizzo, Alexis Sogluizzo, Isabella Sogluizzo, Caylin Sogluizzo, Samantha Jarvis, and Kelsey Jarvis; her siblings Cash Phillips, Theresa Uzzel, and Carol Cavanaugh; and numerous extended family members. Sandy's love for her family was evident in everything she did, and she cherished the moments spent with them at the campground, surrounded by nature and laughter.
In her spare time, Sandy enjoyed tending to her garden, crocheting, reading, and knitting. These simple pleasures brought her immense joy and solace, reflecting her gentle and nurturing spirit. Her dedication to her hobbies was a testament to her creativity and love for life.
A celebration of Sandy's life will be held at Heidrick Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh, on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. where family and friends will come together to honor and remember a remarkable woman. As we gather to pay our respects, let us reflect on the love, kindness, and warmth that Sandy brought into the world, leaving an indelible mark on all those who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory be a blessing to all who were touched by her presence.
