PLATTSBURGH - Ruth Mary Dumas, 77 of Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away on Sept. 8, 2014 at home under the care of Hospice and in the presence of her loving family after losing her battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 7, 1936 in Malone, N.Y., the daughter of George and Marcelia Jones.
She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Paul Dumas. Ruth and Paul are both retired from Ayerst Laboratories and have spent the last few years gardening and enjoying their time together.
Ruth is also survived by her son, Scott Young and wife Debbie, of Altona, N.Y.; daughter, Denise Young of Silver Spring, Md.; and three step daughters, Donna Corbeil (Stephen) of Manchester, Conn., Debbie Young of Altona, N.Y. and Diane Rivera of West Hartford, Vt.; her two brothers, Francis Jones of Malone, N.Y. and Maurice Jones of Churubusco, N.Y. Ruth is also survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She is pre-deceased by her sister, Lucille Wilson.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed deeply by all. She will be remembered most for her amazing sense of humor.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 at Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 from St. Augustine's Church in Peru. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
