Rodney C Hurley 90, of Cumberland Head, died June 23rd at the Plattsburgh Rehab and Nursing Center in Plattsburgh. He was born August 20, 1926 in Elizabethtown, the son of Wesley and Josephine (Neumaier) Hurley.
Rod graduated from Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School in 1944. He retired from the NY Telephone company with 30 plus years of service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Knights of Columbus, a Charter Member of the North Country Squares and also a past volunteer at the Cumberland Head Fire Dept. Rod was an avid Hamm Radio operator, musician, bowler, loved to fish, and was a true die hard Yankee's fan!
He is survived by his 4 children: Randy Hurley of Plattsburgh, Sherri (Hurley) Flock and husband Bill of Ohio, Greg Hurley and wife Linda (Eddy) of Plattsburgh, and Karin Hurley Pancake and husband Kenny of Florida; a sister, Marcella (Hurley) Denton and her husband Steve of Elizabethtown; 3 grandchildren: Charles Burdsall of Cuba, NY, Wesley Flock of Ohio and Chandler Brinkman of Florida, one great-grandson, Alex Burdsall, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 26th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM with a service following at 11:00 AM at the Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at the Riverside Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
