Robert Wayne Mowery Jr. of Elizabethtown, NY, passed away suddenly on September 24, 2017.
Bob was born September 19, 1958 in Plattsburgh to the late Robert W. “Dutch” Mowery and Norma (Denton) Mowery.
He graduated from Elizabethtown – Lewis Central School in 1977 and Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, NY, Excelling in soccer and basketball where he was named “Athlete of the Year”. He followed his passion for Physical Education and attended SUNY Cortland. Upon graduating, he taught Physical Education at LaSalle School for Boys in Albany, NY. Bob became a Corrections Officer for the State of New York prior to him becoming a Network Administrator at Moriah Shock Correctional Facility, a position he held until his passing. He coached Varsity Basketball at Moriah Central School, and served on the School Board at Elizabethtown – Lewis Central School for three years.
Bob married the love of his life, Toni (Waldron) Mowery on February 18, 1989. They were blessed with three sons, Joshua, Cortland, and Airman First Class Hunter Mowery.
Bob is survived by his wife and sons, one grandson Sawyer Mowery, a brother Alan Mowery, along with two nephews Dustin and Spencer Mowery. He is also survived by his in-laws Jack and Peg Waldron, sister-in-law and husband Tammy and Francis Kelly, two brother-in-law’s and spouses John and Tammy Waldron, and James and Angie Waldron, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Grandparents, Sadie and Jesse Denton, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A day of remembrance will be held for Bob on Sunday, October 1st at the Wooden Nickel in Lewis, NY from 4-6 PM.
