Rita P. Manning 91 of Seneca Drive entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the UVM-CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was a devout Catholic her entire life and her strong faith had sustained her through many hardships, two of the most trying would be the loss of her daughter and the loss of her husband.
She was born in Rouses Point, NY on June 28, 1925 to Willis and Margaret Mero Batchelder.
She married David P. Manning on February 14, 1955 and they went on to raise three children together.
Rita had worked at various jobs in the village of Rouses Point with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals being the job she would eventually retire from in 1990 after many years of service.
The one job she most enjoyed was that of being a Mom. Her children would always come first and she took great delight in the time spent with family. Her sense of humor and good natured disposition
plus that of being the best Mom anyone could ever ask for will cause her to be deeply and greatly missed.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her son P.David Narreau and wife Cheryl, her daughter Jan Yakey and husband Scott, both of Plattsburgh. A brother Richard Batchelder and wife Esther of Queensbury, NY
nephews Tom Laundrie and wife Elaine and Tad Laundrie and wife Carrie both of Rouses Point, NY. niece Dean Laundrie of Plattsburgh, nephew Robert St John and wife Janice of Champlain, NY.
Grandchildren D. Scott Narreau of Colorado, Lisa Casey and husband Tim of Virginia and their children Joshua and Jacob, Step grandchildren Todd Nelson and his children Ryan and Taylor, Steve and Katie Nelson of Vermont and their children Sharkey and Theo.
She was predeceased by her parents, a daughter, Patricia Gail Canning, a brother, Donald Batchelder, a sister Eleanor Laundrie and a brother-in-law Vernon Laundrie.
She was also predeceased by her husband of 62 years on October 17, 2016.
Rita’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the wonderful and compassionate nursing staff on the 3rd and 5th floors. Without all of you, our journey through this most difficult time would have been that much harder to bear. Your constant presence added a peace of mind for us in the times that we were not able to be at her side. Your kindness, understanding and guidance was a Godsend. Please know it will never be forgotten.
At Rita’s request, there will be no calling hours. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Hospital.
May the good Lord hold you in his loving arms until we meet again.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
