Richard Patrick Sukel

Richard Patrick Sukel, 80, of Middle Road in Essex, passed away Monday December 31, 2018 at his home. He was born in Donora, PA. on September 23, 1938 son of the late George and Marguarite (Criswell) Sukel.
Richard served his country in the US Air Force from 1962-1968. After leaving the Air Force he settled in Bennington, Vermont where he was a teacher at Mount Anthony Union High School until he retired. He then moved to Essex, NY. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending his winters on Jekyll Island, Georgia.
Richard leaves behind his wife Joyce, of 55 years, two sons Raymond Sukel and his wife Jane of Trenton, Maine, Jack Sukel of Bedford, PA., Julie Thaler and her husband Eric of Glover, Vt., seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Timothy, Jacob, Joshua and Joseph Sukel, Caleb and, Erica Thaler and one great grandson Bryson Sukel. He is predeceased by a son Matthew Sukel and a brother Gene Sukel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday January 5, 2018 from St. Philip of Jesus Church in Willsboro. Burial will follow in the Whallons Bay Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s memory may be made to Willsboro/Essex EMS or Essex Community Fund/Goff Fund.
