Lewis- Richard “Hoot” Norton 87 of Lewis died Nov. 14, 2020. Hoot was born in Schenectady, NY. to the late Arthur D. Norton and Ethel (Chatran) Norton. Hoot grew up in Schenevus, NY. He was a proud U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War. Hoot retired from NYSEG after 35 plus years of service. He then bought a Saw Mill to start his retirement job/ hobby, he loved cutting logs. Hoot was a very generous man that would help anyone. He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends. Hoot was also the proud proprietor of Hoot’s Hole in the Wall, where many important decisions were made. Hoot had a love for flying. He also had a love for animals; he never met a dog he did not like! He leaves behind his children, son Alan Richard Norton and his wife Lisa, of Littleton, Colorado. Daughter, Rhonda Mankin and her husband Mike, of Oklahoma. Grandsons, Kyle and Austin Norton, of Colorado. Stepsons, Michael ‘Ike’ Tyler and his wife Laura of Westport. Thomas Tyler and his companion Angel of North Hudson. Step grandchildren, Michael, Rachelle, Brandi, and Mallory. Also several nieces and nephews. Hoot was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, brother Robert, sisters Bernice and June. His wife Janet D. Norton. His former wife Josephine (Carnicelli) Norton, mother of his children. A memorial service for Hoot will be in the spring. In Lieu of flowers, a donation made be made to North Country Honor Flight.
