Richard R. McCray

Richard R. McCray, 68, of Essex Road, lost his battle with cancer and passed away Friday November 25, 2022 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Elizabethtown on March 18, 1954 son of the late Henry and Mildred (Havens) McCray.
Richard grew up with his many siblings before joining the Army, where he met his beloved wife, Ulla (Werdecker) McCray in Germany. Richard spent 8 years in the military before moving back home so he could raise his growing family near his siblings.
After leaving the active military Richard worked for 14 years at NYCO before he injured his back and was no longer able to work there. Richard also spent 12 years in the Army reserves before retiring from the military. Richard then kept busy by supporting local sports, spending time with his family and riding around with his dog, Angel. He also helped build two homes for him and his family.
Richard is survived by his wife Ulla, children Michelle Baker, Roger McCray (Kristen), and Norman McCray (Mindy) and his grandchildren, Troy, Connor, Lilly, Madisynne, and Colton. He was preceded in death by his brothers Frank McCray, Harold McCray, Rodney McCray and his grandchildren Logan and Claire.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday December 2, 2022 at Heald Funeral Home, 7521 Court Street, Elizabethtown. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
