Paul E. Dumas, 86 years old, died peacefully and quietly in his favorite chair Sunday morning, September 24, 2017. He was well loved and respected by many and will be deeply missed by all.
Paul is survived by his children, Donna Corbeil (Stephen), Scott Young, Debbie Young, Denise Young and Diane Rivera. He will be greatly missed by his three grandchildren, Chris, Jennifer and Gabriella. The great grandchildren will grow up hearing the stories we all remember of Paul.
He is also survived by his four sisters, Irene McCarthy, Maxine Brownell, Nancy Tyrrell and Barbara Marion, as well as their extended families.
Paul was predeceased by his wife Joyce in 1979 and his second wife Ruth in 2014.
Paul was a Renaissance man who dabbled in many things and he worked at a variety of jobs and businesses during his lifetime. His true passion, however, was the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Veterans, in general.
Paul envisioned a Veterans Park to honor Veterans of all ages from the Revolutionary War to the present day. This became a reality at the Plattsburgh Barracks on the Oval. This is a living continuing memorial to the service of all Veterans and a testament to the love of Paul.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, September 29, 2017 at Heald Funeral Home 48 Court Street in Plattsburgh with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM. Burial with full military honors will take place 1:00 PM Monday October 2, 2017 at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT.
