Mildred D. Gadway

Mildred D. Gadway, 83, Route 22 in Peru passed away Monday March 23, 2020 at her home with the help of Hospice. The daughter of the late Francis and Dorothy (Blaise) Bell.

Millie was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. on July 21, 1936. She attended Peru elementary and high school.

Millie met the love of her life, Halsey (also known as Boots) when she was waitressing at Dellas Inn in Peru, N.Y. They were married on August 20, 1954. After raising seven children, Millie returned to work and worked at Forrence Orchards for over 30 years and later worked at Hannafords for 10 years before retiring.

When her family was young they all enjoyed camping and went every summer. Millie loved cooking over an open fire. Millie was an avid bingo player and belonged to several bingo clubs. She also loved to play cards - pinochle and 31. In her later years she played every Friday with her siblings. She loved going to the casino and receiving lottery tickets. Millie liked to watch Andy Griffin and game shows on TV and never missed her stories the Young and the Restless and the Bold and Beautiful. She also played Words with friends on her kindle daily.

Millie is survived by son, Leonard (Lenny) of Beekmantown; son Garry and his wife Jackie, of Beekmantown; daughter Cindy Blankenship, son Scott and wife Shelly of Plattsburgh; son, Larry and daughter, Debbie Blankenship of Peru; son, Kenneth (Kenny) and his wife Sue of Morrisonville; brother, Francis (Butch) Bell and his wife Kelly of Plattsburgh; brother, Ronald (Ronnie) Bell of Morrisonville; sister, Linda Avanzato of Peru; sister, Helen Hungate and her husband Ray of California.She is survived as well by her grandchildren, Lee Gadway and his wife Kim; Chris Gadway and his wife Amy; Alicia K’lang and her husband Rob; Scottie, Timmy and Lily Gadway; Stacey Montalvo and her husband Victor; Don Anthony, Nikki, and Tyler Blankenship;
David and Kali Blankenship; Elliot Butt; Eric Butt and his wife Erin; Melissa Ducatte and her husband Josh; Elijah Parks and his wife Kylie ; and several great-grandchildren.

Millie is predeceased by her husband Halsey Gadway, three sisters, Sally Stone, Nancy McCormick and Mary McGuire and two brothers Jimmy and Bobby Bell.

Funeral Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
