Martha M. Cornwright, 91, of Barksdale Road in Westport, passed away Sunday December 27, 2015 at UVM – Health Network – ECH in Elizabethtown. She was born in Lewis on August 12, 1924 daughter of the late Benjamin and Molly (Tracy) Carson.
Martha worked as a waitress most of her life. She was a caregiver for several people and in her later years for Alex Boisseau, whom she cared for deeply. Martha had a heart of gold. She loved her cats and cared for many homeless cats and kittens.
Martha is survived by two sisters; Irene Cross and Elizabeth Cross both of Lewis, two sisters in law; Wilda Carson of Albany and Ellen Carson of Lecanto, Fl., and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many close friends including; Janet Smith of Westport, Janet Hainer and Harry and Helen Quinlan of Canada, and many other wonderful caring friends from Westport and the surrounding area. Martha is predeceased by five brothers; Benjamin, Robert, Rossie, Anthony, Pat and three sisters; Ruthie, Marjorie and Vergery.
Calling hours will be from _ Wednesday December 30, 2015 at Marvin-Heald funeral Home, 7521 Court Street, Elizabethtown. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
