Margaret R Boone, 94, of Elizabethtown, New York, was born in 1928 daughter of Fred E. and Rita M. (Harnden) Rowe, went to join Jesus and her heavenly family which she missed dearly for Christmas on 7 Dec 22. In 1952, she married Joseph E Boone.
She is survived by her daughter Patti, and son Joe, wife Sheila, both of Lake Worth, Fl, nieces Jan Bigalow of Port Henry, NY, Linda Haroff of Schroon Lake, NY, Betty Ann and husband Bill Force of Oregon, IL, best friend Diane Ashline of Port Henry, NY and special cousins Greta, husband Terry Smith of Leesburg, Fl and Kim Belden of Daytona Beach Shores, FL.
She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Rita Rowe, husband, Joseph E Boone, brother Fred Rowe, nephews John and Jimmy Rowe, and Edward Haroff.
Margaret graduated from Port Henry High School where she was a star athlete, in both basketball and soft ball. She also graduated from North Country Community College with a Nursing degree.
Margaret started working at a young age as a soda jerk in the local pharmacy, went on after High school graduation to become a telephone operator (oh the stories she could tell), then multiple secretarial positions, and medical secretary for Dr Moisan (our family physician) while raising her family. Margaret continued in the medical field as a nurse working at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital and retiring from Horace Nye Nursing Home.
Margaret and Joe also spent many summers at their camp on Willsboro Point on Lake Champlain where they enjoyed swimming, boating and water skiing, as well as family cookouts.
Margaret continued her love of sports as an adult and passed that on to her children, including swimming, skiing both water and snow, skating, softball, and basketball.
Margaret was always a talented hard worker both at home and at work. She learned and was an expert at painting, wall papering, and was a “kitchen beautician”. Margaret also was considered a Moving Angel by Patti’s friends, because whenever she moved in the Army, Margaret came and unpacked, set up house and decorated.
In retirement, Margaret and Joe spent winters in Florida, but home was always the North Country!
Special thanks to Loren Henrichs, Denise Bassett, and Trust Bridge Hospice especially Crystal, GiGi and Romelia.
