Mae Heald

Mae Heald,79, of Elizabethtown and formerly of Keene Valley, passed away Friday March 11, 2021 at the Essex Center in Elizabethtown. She was born in Troy to the late Gilman and Minnie (Smith) Signor.
Mae graduated from Ausable Valley Central School in 1960. She attended and graduated from Cosmetology School in Albany. She worked many years for the Merle-Smith Family in Keene Valley, did catering for weddings, dinner and cocktail parties for many local and summer residence and was a home Health Aid at Mountain Health for several years. Mae then attended and graduated from truck driving School in Albany where she obtained her Class 1 license in 1988. She was a driver/trainer for several years for Careta Coast to Coast and J. B. Hunt as well as NYS DOT. Mae retired as the private caregiver for the Runyon Family in Keene Valley. Mae was a founding board member for Mountain Lake Services/Essex County ARC - starting in 1974 she served her 1st term until 1988. She served her second term on the board 1996 to 2002. She also served as the Vice President of the board of a number of years, as well as the board representative for The New York State ARC Board of Governors.
Mae is survived by her three sons:; Phillip Heald and his wife Lauri of Peru, Jay Heald and his wife Shalonie of Elizabethtown, Daniel Heald and his wife Jody of Yorktown Heights, 7 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter Jennifer Heald.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday March 19, 2022 at the Keene Valley Congregational Church in Keene Valley. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations on Mae’s memory may be made to the Keene Valley Neighborhood House.
