Essex, NY - Luvie Ann (Fowler) Tuller, beloved mother, grandmother, and teacher, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, at Elizabethtown Community Hospital after a brief illness. She was 86 years old.
Luvie was born on April 1, 1939, in Lyme, New Hampshire, to the late David Gilman Fowler Sr. and Olive Leonie (Greenwood) Fowler. She spent her early years in Lyme, NH, where she developed a deep love for education and community. A bright student, Luvie graduated as valedictorian from Orford High School in 1957. She earned a full scholarship to Keene Teachers College in Keene, NH. Still, her life's path took a loving turn when she met Stanley Whitney Tuller, Jr. They married on January 28, 1959, in South Royalton, VT.
Luvie continued her education, earning a BS degree from Castleton State College in Vermont and later an MS in Education from Plattsburgh State University in New York. Her passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling career in education, where she devoted nearly thirty years to the Peru Central School District in Peru, NY, touching the lives of countless elementary school children.
Left to carry on her spirit are her three children: Scott Whitney Tuller (Veronica) of Jay, NY, Kamala Rae (Tuller) Hulbert (Lance) of Elizabethtown, NY, and Vicki Lynn (Tuller) Kirchner (Mike) of Au Sable Forks, NY, and her cherished grandchildren Ridall Kirchner and Lillian Tuller Uss.
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Stanley, and her parents, David and Olive Fowler. Luvie also mourned the loss of her siblings, including her sister Josephine May Nolet and her brother David Gilman Fowler Jr. She leaves behind six sisters: Lois Jane (Fowler) Huntington (Hank) of White River Junction, VT, Julia Mae (Fowler) Labier of Lebanon, NH, Donna Jean (Fowler) Greenwood of White River Junction, VT, Mae Louise (Fowler) Nicoli of Plympton, MA, Ruth Janice (Fowler) DeCotis of Wentworth, NH, and Linda Marie (Fowler) Talbert of Grantham, NH.
Luvie loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker, becoming a 46er at the age of 60. Never one to turn down a challenge, Luvie barely flinched when Stan told her he had signed her up to teach aerobics for the new adult education program at Peru Central. This led to a part-time career teaching aerobics for over 10 years.
Luvie loved crafting, and her baskets, quilts, and paintings can be found in homes throughout the Adirondacks and New England. She prided herself on her ability to see the positive in every situation. Luvie loved to dance, and her family rests easier knowing she can now dance with the love of her life once again.
Her life was one of dedication, love, and service to others. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. A celebration of her life will take place June 7th from 12:00-3:00 pm at Stan and Luvie's home in Essex.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Essex Ambulance Fund.
Arrangements were entrusted to Heidrick Funeral Home, PO Box 188, 7521 Court St., Elizabethtown, NY 12932.
