Laura McNeil

Laura R. McNeil, 89, of Park Street in Elizabethtown and formerly of County Route 8 in Wadhams passed away Tuesday December 30, 2014 at the Essex Center in Elizabethtown with her family by her side. She was born in Dannemora on March 18, 1925 daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Minnie) Smart.

Laura cooked for many years at several places last being Elizabethtown Community Hospital. She enjoyed life to it’s fullest, spending time time with family and friends. Her sense of humor and tramendous faith defined her.

Laura is survived by three children; William McNeil of Plattsburgh, Sandra Sajler and her husband John of Wadhams, Lydia King and her husband Chris of South Glens Falls, her grandchildren; Pracilla Goodhand, Kenneth McNeil, Kelly LaFountain, Darren McNeil, Brandon Bruce, Jesse Bruce, Brianna Christiano, and Neil Christiano, three step grandchildren; Patty Linendoll, Christine Hamms, and Lee Sajler. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Laura is predeceased by her son Kenneth McNeil, her husband William McNeil, her brothers Leo Smart, Leonard Smart and Adrian Smart and her sister Dorothy Liberty.

Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday January 2, 2015 at Marvin-Heald Funeral Home, 7521 Court Street in Elizabethtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday January 3, 2015 from St. Elizabeth’s Church in Elizabethtown. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
