Korrina Duprey, age 38, passed away surrounded by loved ones in her home on May 23, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Westport, New York, Korrina graduated from Westport Central School. After graduation, she attended Mount St. Mary College and Virginia Wesleyan College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, and then she earned her Master of Arts in Special Education/General Curriculum from Old Dominion University. Later, she ambitiously returned to school to obtain an Administration and Supervision PreK-12 Endorsement from Longwood University.
After moving to Virginia Beach, she married her husband, Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Jason Duprey, with whom she shared a fulfilling and humor-filled marriage and a true friendship. They started an amazing family. She was a dedicated, loving, fun mother who was actively involved in her children's lives and was always an inspiring role model of courage and positivity. Korrina possessed an energy and love for life that spilled over into the many people she touched in her lifetime.
Korrina committed her work life to educating children, and she was an inspiration to any educator she worked with. She began her career as an enthusiastic teacher in Norfolk Public Schools before relocating closer to her home at Virginia Beach City Schools, where she always strived to excel as a teacher and meet the academic and emotional needs of her students. In her desire to reach as many children as possible, she moved into administration where she provided professional development and training to teachers, whom she hoped would carry on her legacy by dedicating their energies to helping their students in every way possible.
Korrina enjoyed outdoor life in the Adirondacks and Virginia Beach and excelled in athletics and academics. She enjoyed competing in basketball, soccer, and running, but her favorite times were spent at the beach where she enjoyed paddle boarding, searching for dolphins, swimming, gathering sea glass, collecting shells for her shell garden, and searching for the perfect conch shell.
Left to honor Korrina's memory are her loving husband, Jason Robert Duprey, her two beautiful children, Aiden John Duprey and Addison Jane Duprey, her father, Tom Conley and his partner Gaylene Defore, her mother, Jane Conley and her partner Theodore Marsh Jr., her siblings Kirstan Conley, Mika (Dan) Mannix, Tommy (Morgan) Conley, Joe (Joi Larucci) Conley, Tony (Kate Merrick-) Conley, Kris (Daniel) Oxley, Terry (Kent) Egglefield, and Candy (Robert) Goff. She is also survived by her in-laws David and Holly Duprey and sister-in-law Kristie Duprey as well as many nieces, nephews, extended Conley and Duprey families and her best friend Lia Broderick.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Korrina's beautiful life will be held on Saturday, June 16, at 11:00 at the Westport Central School, 25 Sisco Street, Westport.
