Kent F Cauley passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021. He was born August 24,1944 in Carthage, NY to Marguerite (Huse) and Thomas Cauley as one of seven siblings. Kent graduated from Carthage Central in 1962 and then Plattsburgh State University in 1966. He met his wife, Linda Lechleitner, at college and they later married in 1971. They enjoyed many wonderful years together. He served proudly in the Marine Corp 1967-69 where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Once a Marine always a Marine! Kent was a dedicated elementary teacher, coach and superintendent, who cared deeply about all his employees and students. He taught school in Lake Placid, Elizabethtown and Lake Tahoe. He then spent the bulk of his career as superintendent in Willsboro, NY before retiring from Putnam Central, NY in 2006. Kent and Linda settled in Willsboro in 1973. He loved his home and family. His two sons Grant and Brian were his pride and joy. He introduced his wife, a city girl, to hiking and backpacking. The family had many great adventures hiking, cross country skiing and camping in the Adirondacks. After retiring Linda and Kent explored many states and National Parks throughout the US and Canada. He was happiest being outdoors, strolling through the woods, gardening, canoeing, and sailing on Lake Champlain. Maple syrup became his passion and the first trees were tapped in 1976. After retirement his passion grew and so did the number of his taps! He always carried half pints in the the car and introduced many people across the country to their first authentic maple syrup. Linda nicknamed him the "Johnny Appleseed of Maple Syrup!" There were no strangers in his life. He enjoyed chatting with everyone, and along the way met and made many interesting friends. Kent was an honest, good man, who was the rock of our family. He will be greatly missed. The family is planning to have a celebration of his life to share stories and laughter in the future. "Nothing is ever wholly lost. That which is excellent remains forever a part of the universe." Ralph Waldo Emerson.
