Judy Sorrell

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Judy Ann Sorrell, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Born on April 9, 1945, in Plattsburgh, NY, to Howard and Zella Coryer, Judy peacefully left us on March 19, 2024, at CVPH in Plattsburgh surrounded by her loving family.

Judy's love for her family was unmatched, and her joy radiated whenever she was surrounded by her loved ones. She will be remembered for her passion for sitting in the sun, indulging in murder mysteries, and finding peace in the pages of a good book. Her love for home improvement shows and unending affection for her dogs, who were like her children, brought immense happiness into her life.

For 40 years, Judy worked as a dedicated librarian, rarely taking a day off in her commitment to serving others. Her passion for travel took her to many places, but her heart always remained in her favorite spot, Florida. Judy's simple pleasure in a refreshing glass of Pepsi and her unwavering work ethic endeared her to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Left to carry on her legacy are her children, Scott (Rhonda Cancel) Sorrell, Michelle Sorrell; grandchildren Doran (Jessica) Sorrell and Justin (Hunter Donaldson) Green; siblings Mary Brassard, Linda (Joseph) Pellerin, Geraldine (Edwin) Woodward, Ricky (Deborah) Coryer; and great-grandchildren Ansley Donaldson and Theodore Green.

In honor of Judy's life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Mike Jablonski at St. Joseph's Church, 179 Smith St., Dannemora, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 12:00 pm, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her loving spirit.

As we bid farewell to Judy, let us treasure the memories she has left behind and find solace in the love she shared with all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
