Joyce Ann Whitney, 52, of 89 Greenwood Street, Lake Placid, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday July 31. She was born to Reginald Sr. and Mary Whitney on August 21, 1965 with her twin brother Jody at the Keene Valley Hospital.
Joyce was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She attended Keene Central School, graduating Valedictorian of her class in 1984 and attended SUNY Plattsburgh and North Country Community College. Joyce took a job as a medical transcriptionist at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. She eventually moved back to Keene and then to the Greenwood Estates in Lake Placid as she loved her independence. Joyce became greatly involved in the readings of the Bible and tried to live by its teachings.
Joyce is survived by her mother Mary, her siblings Mike (Joanne), Patrick (Susan), Timothy, Amy (Jeff) Shackett, Jody (Carolyn), Reginald Jr. (Ann) all of Keene, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, and good friend Tom Durfee of Lake Placid, as well as her vast Facebook friends. Joyce is predeceased by her father Reginald Sr., infant brother Jeremy, and companion Dan Murphy whom she lost last year and had missed greatly, and they can now spend eternity together.
No calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11: AM Tuesday August 7, 2018 at St. Brendan’s Church in Keene. Burial will following in Norton’s Cemetery.
