Joyce Priscilla (O’Connell) Kelley, 88, of Ballston Lake, formerly of Montcalm Avenue, Plattsburgh, NY died peacefully Sunday, August 5, 2018, at the Saratoga Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Ballston Spa, NY. She was born in Plattsburgh on August 11, 1929 the daughter of Charles and Priscilla (Dignard) O’Connell. In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her husband of 51 years Clarence J. Kelley, and her brothers Kenneth, George “Butch,” and Carl O’Connell.
She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. Peter’s Church and she was a longtime volunteer at the Knights of Columbus. In Joyce’s younger years she was an avid bowler, and enjoyed her days working the Woolworth’s lunch counter.
Joyce had an unconditional love for her family and all who crossed her path. Her warm and loving nature allowed her home to be a welcoming place to all. She was a generous person, who always put others first. Joyce survived cancer multiple times with nothing less than a positive and strong outlook. Joyce’s most cherished joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Her peaceful passing was a blessing; she will always be remembered with love.
Joyce is survived by her two daughters Susan (George III “Speedy”) Arnold of Keeseville and Lisa K. (Gil) LaDuke of Ballston Lake; four grandchildren Joshua (Jocelyn) Arnold of Ballston Lake, Alycia LaDuke of Davenport, FL, Zachary (Kate) Arnold of Keeseville, and Rebekka LaDuke of Davenport, FL; one great granddaughter, Evalyn Parrow-Rascoe of Keeseville; two sisters-in-law Ilene (Peter) Allen, of Bangor, NY and Edith O’Connell of Plattsburgh; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
There will be no public calling hours. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Wednesday August 8, 2018 at St. Peters Church in Plattsburgh, NY. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
