Josette M. Babbitt, 84 years old, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 23, 1935 in Orleans, France. She was the daughter of Jean and Fernande Laveau.
She was the proud co-owner of the French Connection and The Cardinal Pub in Plattsburgh, NY with her son, Andre Babbitt. Prior to becoming a business owner, she was an accountant for several businesses in the Plattsburgh area. After retirement, she enjoyed her time as a member of the Red Hat Society.
Josette loved spending time with her dogs: Buddy, Fred, and Benji. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Josette donated her time to the Elmore SPCA and donated handmade hats, mittens, and slippers to the local churches and hospitals. Additionally, she knitted and donated over 100 sets of Barbie clothes to local churches.
Josette was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. Her sense of humor brought a smile to everyone she met. She was the life of any party or gathering she went to and enjoyed living life to the fullest.
Josette is survived by her brother, Andre Laveau, and sister-in-law, Janine Laveau; her daughters, Mary Lou Ross and Janine Wright; their spouses, Alan Ross and Michael Wright; her grandchildren, Christopher Pavone, Tyler Ross, Kyle Ross, Nicole Baxter, Amanda Bouyea, and Annick Hurd; along with several great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her son and closest friend, Andre Babbitt.
A celebration of life will be held on September 21, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. at the Butcherblock in Plattsburgh, NY. Per her wishes, there will be no services. She will be laid to rest next to her son at the St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Elmore SPCA.
