PLATTSBURGH - John “Jack” Moulton Moody, 82, of Pine Harbour, formally from St. Albans, VT, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Meadowbrook Healthcare. He was born July 26, 1931, in Chateaugay, N.Y., the son of the late Ralph and Alberta (Moulton) Moody.
John grew up in Malone, NY and attended Franklin Academy. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy and traveled the world with his family. He proudly retired after 22 years and settled his family back to what was always home to him; the north country. He earned his B.S. from Plattsburgh State University College, and worked for U.S. Immigration which he retired from, after serving 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Moody of Plattsburgh, son John M. Moody Jr. and soul-mate Martha “Marty” Williams of Glenn Ellyn, I.L, daughter Joan and David Foley of Plattsburgh, grandson Eric and Sue Foley of Albany, granddaughter Kaitlyn and Lio Alexander of Erie, PA, and great-granddaughter Emylli Foley of Albany. Also many cousins, nieces, nephews, and sister-in law who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was also pre-deceased by brothers Kenneth Moody, William Moody, sister Sarah Douglas, and daughter Nancy Moody.
John enjoyed the outdoors: hiking, fishing, and shooting hoops. He was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan and a lover of all kinds of music, including a song written about him: “The World of Ydoom”.
An officer and a gentleman, he touched many lives with his kindness, humor, and storytelling. He had a way of sharing his life adventures in such a way that touched his family and friends to no end. His loving spirit will remain with all of us who were lucky enough to know him.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh,. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at Heald Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Chateaugay, NY.
