John C. Mackowski, 87, of Sonya Way in Plattsburgh, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at UVM Health Network CVPH in Plattsburgh. He was born in Jersey City, NJ., on August 3, 1930 son of the late Adam and Mary (Zajac) Mackowski.
John served his country doing time in the US Air Force serving 21 years retiring in 1971. He also worked for the US Postal Service retiring after 20 years of service. After his second retirement he enjoyed driving bus for several school districts for many years. John enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, model airplanes and camping.
John is survived by four children; Alan “Skip” Mackowski and his wife Angela of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Dawn Mackowski-Frennier and her husband Steve of Columbia, S.C., Cheryl Mackowski and her husband Lonnie Clukey of Cape Coral, FL., Lynne Mackowski and her husband Wade Eagle, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., seven grandchildren; David, Jeromy, Erin, Chad, Amber, Faith, Hunter, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Leone “Lee” Mackowski and a sister Maryanne Mackowski.
Calling hours will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
