Joan Thornton

WEST CHAZY — Joan A. Thornton, 77, of the Jersey Swamp Road, West Chazy, passed away with her loving family by her side Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 1, 1935, daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Stone) LaBombard.
Joan worked for several Oil Companies in Plattsburgh. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and friend. Joan dedicated her life to her family, and friends. She loved to go camping.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, Donald Thornton of 55 years; three daughters, Debbie Thornton of West Chazy, Karen Sayers of Plattsburgh, Susan Beatty and fianc^ Edmond Duhaime of West Chazy; two sisters, Betty and John Tousignant of Plattsburgh, Diane and George Barota of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, James and Emily Beatty and Jimmy Sayers III; one great-grandchild, Lillian Beatty. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Joan is predeceased by a brother, James LaBombard.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, from St. James Church in Cadyville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
