Joan Egglefield

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joan R. Egglefield, a beloved resident of Elizabethtown, NY. Born on November 25, 1947, to Phillip and Vergina Redmond, she peacefully passed away on September 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

She was a woman known for her endless compassion and kindness. Joan and her late husband Dennis raised a family through love, support, and education, and never missed a major event in their children's and grand-children's lives.

Her generosity knew no bounds, always giving back to causes close to her heart, with a special affection for the SPCA.

Her dedication to the Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School as a special needs teaching assistant touched the lives of many. Joan cherished game nights with family and friends and wintering in Daytona, creating lasting memories with loved ones and friends.

An avid enthusiast of all things fall and Halloween, Joan adored the changing seasons and the excitement they brought. Her home was her sanctuary for her love of nature hosting a large flock of hummingbirds and vibrant gardens tended to with love.

Fondly referred to as "Gram," Joan's love and warmth extended beyond her immediate family, embracing all as her own. Her storytelling captivated her grandchildren, her presence a source of comfort and joy. Joan's support of youth and college athletics in the community for over five decades has left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

Those preceding her in death are her husband, Dennis; her grandson Beckham Egglefield; her parents; and her sister-in-law Wendy Bergeson.

She is survived by her children, Cory (Jennifer) Egglefield, Kent (Terry) Egglefield, Shelby Boisvert (Caston Snape); her grandchildren Madison, Alexander, Harper, Emma, McKenna, Mallory, Cairene, and Rowan; her brother Gregory (Donna) Redmond; and her siblings-in-law Patricia (Paul) Baker, Deidre Egglefield, and Kari Egglefield; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Services were entrusted to Heidrick Funeral Home, PO Box 188, Elizabethtown, NY 12932.
