Janet Marie Lopez Fellows, of Salem, MA, passed away from complications of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on November 15, 2022, with her family by her side. Born on April 4, 1949, Jan is survived by her husband David Fellows, two sons Diego Fellows and William Reynolds, and his wife Taylor Reynolds, and two beloved grandsons, Theodore and Owen. She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. Robert Lopez and Marjorie Beha Lopez, sister Kristine Irene Lopez, and brother James Robert Lopez, and is survived by her siblings: Maureen Fernandez, Stephen Lopez, Thomas Lopez, Martha Lopez Chubb, Daniel Lopez, Tresa Lopez, Susan Allott, Tony Lopes, Lori Lopez Myers, Matt Lopes and Kate Dessau Lopez.
Jan was the fourth child of Dr. and Ms. Robert Lopez of Westport, NY. She attended Westport Elementary School and Lake Placid High School, then went on to Potsdam University, and finally to Syracuse University, where she received a degree in English. After college, she taught at a private school, Lewis Wadhams, in Lewis, NY, where she met her future husband, Dave. Jan later worked as a design and production manager for both Houghton Mifflin and Horticulture Magazine and was a sales representative for The Lane Press in Burlington, VT. More recently Jan returned to her love of teaching, and children, taking a roll as an ESL instructor in the Salem School District, before retiring in 2018.
The family is making arrangements for a private service at a date to be determined. Condolences may be sent to 72 Bay View Ave, Salem MA 01970. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jan’s name to the Alliance for Children (MA).
Jan will be greatly missed by all who knew her gentle, kind, generous, fun and spirted personality. She was a beloved friend, colleague, mother, wife, Mimi, sister, aunt, and was an incredibly accomplished and creative gardener and seamstress. “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” - A.A.
