Janet F. Dean

Janet F. Dean, 79, of Blair Rd. Plattsburgh, died Friday, November 4, 2022 at CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Glens Falls, NY on December 19, 1942, the daughter of Bertha “Bert” (McDonald) and Irwin “Ike” Fletcher. Jan graduated from Glens Falls High School, class of 1960, and married Donald (Don) Dean on June 30, 1962. She was predeceased by her parents and husband.

Jan is survived by her three daughters and six grandchildren: Elizabeth “Betsy” Madan, husband Carlos Madan and their children Emily and Alexander, Ellen Gricoski and her daughters Lydia and Paige, and Sara Dean, husband Dr. Glenn Meyer and daughters Miranda and Grace Denis.

Jan was family and community minded and to say that she was an involved grandma would be an understatement. She attended every possible soccer game, gymnastics meet, play, dance, musical performance and awards ceremony. Her support was not limited to just her children and grandchildren, but enjoyed by countless “adopted” family members. She dedicated her life to service work and volunteered with the Girl Scouts for many years, and then transitioned to working with seniors. She retired as the director of the Senior Nutrition Program and Meals on Wheels in 2009.

Heald Funeral Home completed the arrangements and no services are planned at this time. Jan and Don’s ashes will be interned together at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY at a later date.
