Herman H. Gillette, Jr. 50, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends, on Sunday, January 24, 2016. He was born the son of Cynthia (Olivan) and Herman Gillette, Sr.
Herman attended Northern Adirondack Central School. He was self employed as a Construction worker. Herman enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends. Herman will always be remembered for his quick witt and funny demeanor he had in life. He was willing to help out any who needed his assistance. He was also known as the only Mountain Man who walked a pug.
Besides his 4-legged companion, George, he is survived by his children; Codie and Taylor from Saranac. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers: Lynne and Robert Merrell of Dayton, Texas: Kim Gillette and Ronald Waldron of Chazy Lake; Melissa Gillette and Donny Drollette of Plattsburgh; Wendy and Scott King of Chazy Lake; Thomas Gillette of Standish; Erich and Monica Gillette of Standish; Shay Lyn and Doug True of Saranac.
Herman is predeceased by his parents.
Friends and family may celebrate his life from 4 – 7 pm on Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Church in Lyon Mountain. . A funeral service will follow at 7. Burial will be at a later date in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. A gathering to honor Herman’s life will follow services at the American Legion Post #1623 in Lyon Mountain.
