Helen Ballard Baird died on March 16, 2016, she was 93. She was predeceased by her husband, P.Morrison Baird , her son Robert Baird, and her grandson, Sean Baird , her brother Jack Ballard his wife Lillian , her brother Richard Ballard his wife Eleanor, her brother-in law Herman Hazekamp, her brother-in-law Leonard Baird , his wife Frieda,and her sister-in law Elaine Baird Edmonds Gross, and her husband Elmore Edmonds and many of her friends.
She is survived by her son, William, his wife Gene, her sister: Mildred Hazekamp, her Grandchildren: Mark Baird, Tamara Baird Ryder, Julie Baird Holbrook and her husband Michael, her Great-grandchildren: Dakota Blue Baird, Taylor Baird, Nicholas Ryder and his wife Valerie, Zachary Ryder, Devon Holbrook, Austin Holbook, Sadie Holbrook and many nieces and nephews.
Morrison and Helen started their married life on the big farm, which was Morrison’s families’ farm, Bairdlea, a registered holstein dairy farm in Sugar Loaf, she prepared big meals, ready at noon, for the farm workers. Helen devoted her life to taking care of her husband and family, she loved to entertain friends and family at informal parties and barbeques. Everyone loved her mac and cheese and potato salad. She did a beautiful job of decorating her home in Sugarloaf, it was warm and inviting. She also lived in Peru , New York , Gardiner, New York, and Mineville, New York.
In their retirement Helen and Morrison took a trip across the country with her friends, Elsie and Martin Smith and Mary and Bub Ford, and had a wonderful time. They spent many winters in Florida. Her life was full and well lived, she will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held later this summer at Baird Brook Farms in Lewis.
