Helen Theresa (Buckley) Callanan
Cadyville-(Helen) Theresa Callanan, 85,formally of Youngs Road, Westport, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, with family and friends at her side, on Monday, October 26, 2015.
Theresa was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Dec.15, 1929,the only daughter of Timothy Buckley and Helen (Downs) Buckley.
Theresa graduated from Saint John’s Academy in 1948.
She married Edward Callanan on Sept. 3, 1949 and they enjoyed over fifty years of marriage prior to his passing in August of 2000.
Her joy in life were her children, grandchildren, many friends and watching her great grandchildren play.
She was predeceased by her parents, her step-father , Edward Webber, and her daughter Maureen Picone.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Wehmeyer, Casey Callanan, Theresa Kempf and Kathleen Callanan and her fiancé Jeffrey Cross. Son in law Robert Wehmeyer and his wife Mari-jo, son in law Al Picone, son in law Joseph Kempf and his girlfriend Diane Goggin Maben.
Her grandchildren, Joshua Wehmeyer, Jamie Wehmeyer and his fiancé Erica Dery Janke, Megan Callanan Lasaponara and her husband Michael, Christine Callanan, Erin Callanan and her fiancé Nicholas Perrine, Eamon Callanan,Conor Cooley and his wife Queena, Sarah Kempf Brower and her husband Ian, Logan Cooley, Patrick Picone and Caitlin Kempf, Michael Hebert and his wife April, Ashley Cross and her fiancé Brendon Crusie.
She is also survived by her great grandchildren; Makayla Hebert, Trinity Chase, Colfax Janke, Izabelle Cooley, Ruby Wehmeyer, Junelle Hebert and Wyatt Crusie.
She also left behind many wonderful friends.Special thanks from the family to Hospice of the North Country and all of their wonderful volunteers,Diane, Bonnie, and Nancy Taylor, whom all became friends.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held on October 31, 2015 at the St. James Church in Cadyville, NY, at 11 am,performed by her cousin, Father John (Jack) Downs, with a graveside placement done by son Casey Callanan.A celebration of life will be at the home of Jeffrey Cross and Kathleen Callanan, in Cadyville, NY.
