Giovanni Capitina

Giovanni Capitina of Plattsburgh, NY passed away on December 23, 2023.

He was born in Vittoria, Ragusa, Sicily on March 6, 1931 to Angela Busacca and Giuseppe Capitina.

He was predeceased by his wife, Giovanna, his sister Teresa, brother Salvatore, and nephew Raffaele.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela, son-in-law Gino, grandchildren Justine and Christine, his great-grandson Luca, his brother Emanuele, sister-in-law Maria, nephews Joe and Frank, nieces Angela and Lucille.

He immigrated to the United States in 1968 with his family looking for a better life for himself and for future generations. In life, he loved to garden and enjoyed hunting. He was generous in sharing a bountiful harvest each year with neighbors and friends.

He lived life on his terms and died peacefully at age 92. May his soul rest in peace!

Visitation and a prayer service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Heidrick Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh, NY; with entombment immediately following at the Plattsburgh Community Mausoleum, 251 Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh.
