Gerald A. “Jerrry” Sherman, Sr., 82, of the LaPlante Road, passed away Sunday morning July 9, 2017 at his home under the care of his loving family and assisted by Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Churubusco on May 25, 1935 son of the late Arthur and Bertha (LaPier) Sherman.
Gerald served proudly in the United Sates Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. On June 16, 1956 he married Edna Bosley at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Edna Sherman, his brother Ralph Sherman, sisters Irene Megliore (Larry) and Margaret Schmidl, along with his seven children, Jake (Tammy) Sherman, Mike (Shirley) Sherman, Wayne (Janine) Sherman, Jim (Elaine) Sherman, Carla Wells, Steve (Peggy) Sherman, Shelly (Dave) Pelkey, sixteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren that he cherished and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by siblings; Ronald W. Sherman, Dorothy Owens and a son in law Hubert Wells, Jr..
Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday July 18, 2017 at Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday July 18, 2017 at St. Joseph’s church in West Chazy. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Ingraham Cemetery.
