George Briggs

George G. Briggs passed away at the hospital in Plattsburgh, New York, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

George was born July 27, 1944, in Hartford, Connecticut to Perry and Shirley Briggs. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeri, and his son Ron (Joanne) of Bolton, CT. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Brianna (AJ), Dylan, Ryan (Tracy), Colin, and Justin; and six great-grandchildren, Ally, Ben, Hailey, Olivia, Camden, and Carter. He was predeceased by his parents and his son Scott.

George loved the Adirondacks and had been coming to the North Country since he was 18 months old. His dream came to life when he was able to live and work in the mountains.

Antique cars were not only his profession, but his life-long hobby, including a 1916 Dodge and antique American LaFrance fire engines. He was a member of several antique car clubs, and he was an active member of the Elizabethtown Kiwanis.

A special thanks to the ICU staff at the hospital for their compassionate, caring, gentle, and professional treatment of George and our family, who made a difficult time much easier.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Heidrick Funeral Home, PO Box 188, 7521 Court St., Elizabethtown, NY 12932. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
