Gary Doyle

Gary Otis Doyle, 72, a lifelong resident of Whallonsburg, NY, passed away on February 29, 2024 surrounded by his beloved family at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT.  

Born on April 25, 1951, Gary lived a life filled with love, adventure, and a deep passion for his family.   While we may mourn his departure, let us celebrate the wonderful memories he leaves behind.

Gary worked for NYCO Mineral as a maintenance technician and as a miner for 45 years before retiring.   Gary was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.  His profound affection for the outdoors and his love for hunting and fishing were well known to his family.

While living life to the fullest, Gary used to spend his time riding motorcycles, taking trips to the casino, and taking vacation with his family to Wildwood, NJ or to Lake George, NY.  He cherished life with his high school sweetheart and wife Margaret Doyle and embarked on many adventures with her.

Family meant the world to Gary, and he treasured the moments spent together.  Christmas was a magical time in the Doyle household filled with laughter, love, and joyful festivities, as his love for Thanksgiving as well.

Gary’s children, Heather (Neil) Prim, Jeremy (Joanie) Doyle, and Gary (Nicole) Doyle, Jr. were his pride and joy.  

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Margaret Doyle; his three children Heather, Jeremy, and Gary, Jr.; a sister Brenda (Sterling) Hathaway of Rotterdam, NY; a brother David (Brenda) Doyle of Moores, NY; eight grandchildren, Austin, Joshua, Kaitelynn, Wesley, Thomas, Benjamin, Arietta, and Elana; also two great-grandchildren Rowen and Cecelia Rose.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Grace and Donald Doyle, and his grandson Frankie Doyle.

Donations may be made in Gary’s memory to the Vascular Surgery Program, UVM Medical Center Foundation, Courtyard at Given 3N, 111 Colchester Ave., Burlington, VT 05401.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Heidrick Funeral Home, 7521 Court St., Elizabethtown, NY with interment to follow at New Burt Cemetery in Whallonsburg.
