Gail “Nana” LaDuke, 82, of Leonard Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2020 at her home with her loving family at her side, under the care of Hospice of the North Country.
She was born in AuSable Forks, NY on May 9, 1938, the daughter of Edward “Jack” and Mabel (Miner) Zeilinski. She married the love of her life, Edward “Blackie” LaDuke, in 1957.
Gail’s life centered around her family. Gail was a true, loyal and loving mother, friend and sister. Nothing made her happier than being around her three sons, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
For over 20 years, Gail worked for North Country Home Services as a Home Health Aide. She deeply cared for every client she had and made genuine friendships with many over the years. When she wasn’t caring for her clients, she was happy to be on the road travelling. She often talked about her trips to New York City, Georgia and Florida and most recently, her cruise to the Bahamas.
Left to cherish the memory of Gail are her sons, Michael (Reba) LaDuke, Mark (Erin) LaDuke, and David (Cherie) LaDuke; grandchildren, Jessica LaDuke, Stacy Loftus (companion, Kevin Mitchell), Gail (Ryan) Norton, Evan LaDuke (companion, Deanna Cothran), Jacob LaDuke (companion, Sarah Kimble), Harley (Ashton) LaDuke, Zachary LaDuke (fiance, Katelin St. Denis) and Collin LaDuke; great-grandchildren, Lacey & Kevin Norton, Jace Martino, Maya Rizzie-LaDuke and Paxton LaDuke; her canine companions, Sonny and Cher; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband, Edward; her sisters, Joan Zielinski Miller, Virginia Zielinski and June Zielinski Douglas; brothers, Rupert and Edward “Jack” Zielinski, Jr.; and her longtime canine companion, Piper.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings, services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at the Holy Name Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Gail requested donations be made to Hospice of the North Country, 358 Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh, NY or Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, 212 Cornelia Street, Plattsburgh, NY, in her memory.
