Evelyn Elaine (Talbot) Brant, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on October 2, 2023. She was born on May 28, 1926, in the town of Essex, NY, to the late Lee and Frieda (Sandberg) Talbot. Evelyn lived a remarkable life, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all those who knew her.
Evelyn developed a deep connection with nature and an unwavering love for the land. Her passion for farming led her to become a well-respected farmer in the area. From her fields of vivid sunflowers to the birdseed she lovingly produced, Evelyn became known as the "Sunflower Lady," brightening the lives of many.
Throughout her life, Evelyn's dedication to her community was evident. She actively participated in various organizations, always lending a helping hand and making a difference. Her years of service at Westport Central School and her undeniable impact in the agricultural industry exemplified her commitment to others.
Evelyn's artistic flair was celebrated through her intricate braided, crocheted, and woven rugs, which adorn homes throughout the region. She devoted countless hours to perfecting her craft, leaving a tangible legacy that will be cherished for generations to come.
She was predeceased by her husband Brandon Brant; granddaughter Sarah Davis; siblings Wanita Hoag, Shirley Podgee, and Lee Talbot; and her son-in-law Carl Eagle.
Left to honor Evelyn's memory are her children, Allen (Jeannette) Brant, Faylene (Lyman) Davis, Helen Eagle, and Marie (Michael) Davis, who will forever remember her unconditional love and guidance. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Angela (Richard) Tolar, Allen (Marci) Brant II, Tammy (Ray) Moran, Joseph (Alison) Brant, Karen Eagle, Kimberly (Juan) Lugo, Elizabeth (Bernard) Spady, John (Kate) Davis, and Christopher Davis (Aubree Gould), along with 16 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by several nieces and nephews whose lives were touched by her warmth and kindness.
A Graveside Service to honor Evelyn's life will take place at the Essex County Veteran's Cemetery on October 21, 2023, at 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of this remarkable woman.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial donations may be made to the Wadhams Fire Department.
Services were entrusted to Heidrick Funeral Home, 7521 Court Street, Elizabethtown, New York.
