Eloise Hume St. Dennis

d. February 21, 2022

Eloise Hume St.Dennis, 96, of Elizabethtown passed away on February 21, 2022, at her home with her loved ones by her side.
Eloise was an amazing, hardworking, caring woman with a huge heart of gold. She not only raised her own 10 children, but most of the North Country’s, as well. She did more than babysit, rather she cared for, taught, feed and nurtured literally hundreds of children that she considered family.
She never met a jigsaw puzzle she couldn’t put together, a crossword that couldn’t be solved or a game show that wasn’t worth watching. She had a love of gardening, especially tulips, raked every leaf from the yard and had a special appreciation for bird watching, even when she didn’t leave the house anymore. More than anything else in the world, she loved her children and grandchildren. She taught us right from wrong, compassion, good manners, and how to work hard.
Our Mom is survived by nine of her ten children, Jim and Cathi of Westport (Ali, Brittany, Cameron), Bill and Bonnie of Peru (Kysa), Mike and Shelia of Bandon, Oregon (Michael Jr, Ray, Lesli), Denny and Wendy of Elizabethtown (David, Andrew, Matt, Nik), Rick of Willsboro (Eric, Chantel), Tom of Saratoga, Mark and Rebeca of Raleigh, NC (Ashley, Mark, Brittany, Caitlyn, Andrew), Deb of Lewis (Josh, Casey) and Dina and Aaran Garvey of Lewis (Keegan, Dalton) and granddaughters Tracy and Shannon. She is also survived by 36 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Eloise is predeceased by her husband William, son and daughter in law; Steve and Gloria, daughter in law Carole, granddaughter Jasmine, brother Hartley Hume and parents, Hattie and Lee Whittemore.
A celebration of life and graveside service will be held in the spring. In the meantime, buy a bouquet of tulips, do a jigsaw puzzle or help a child, that is what Eloise would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for the purpose of a future Eloise St.Dennis scholarship fund at the Boquet Valley Central School.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Heald Funeral Home, Elizabethtown, NY 12932.
