Ellis E McCray, of Lewis passed away with his granddaughter Whitney by his side on June 1st 2023. Born on February 3rd 1938 son of the late Henry and Mildred ( havens) McCray.
In 1940 at the age of two he lived in Lewis a long with his two brothers frank and gradon, he was one of nine siblings. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers and scot every season he could down state. In 1965 He married Phyllis (Drinkwine) McCray, they welcomed their third child a girl in 1970. Ellis is a hardworker and was self taught at small engine repair and everything else he did. Volunteering for the willsboro fire department he was able to give back to the community.. He was a hoarder of antiques with a sense of humor and a soft spot for dogs. He celebrated when his eldest son joined the army in 1986 and was married to his sweetheart in 1988. He welcomed his first granddaughter in may 1990, spending time with his daughter and granddaughters was what brought him love and passion. Doing his garbage route and running the road and causing a traffic jam on route 22. He spend most of his days up to his camp enjoying the simplicity and the dogs. His passion for antiques was a love he shared with his brother Gradon, Ellis would bring his eldest granddaughter to every show and tractor show and his love grew. Spending all the time he could with his daughter Angella. His love for Christmas time would always out glow every one else's. He Had to have a real Christmas tree and his love would get everyone excited. Being the first one up ready to spread the joy. Ellis was a proud former member of the Willsboro Fire Department. He spend a beautiful Christmas in 2019 with his youngest granddaughter keisha. In 2020 he was sent to the senior nursing facility at cvph where he was loved and cared for by Maggie, Amy and Brandi until his end
He is survived by his son Timothy McCray granddaughters Whitney McCray keisha McCray cheylynn McCray and two great grandchildren Raven and Sidney Trudeau. And many loving nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents , his wife Phyllis (Drinkwine) McCray his children Angella (Dodge) McCray Mark McCray along with his brothers Richard McCray Harold McCray Rodney McCray and Frank McCray.
