Douglas E. Pilon, 80, of Chazy, was born Feb 7th, 1941 passed away peacefully on Wed. Feb 2, 2022 at CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side after a long and courageous battle with Dementia/Alzheimer’s. He was born in Glens Falls, NY later moving to Ellenburg Depot and then on to Chazy, NY.
He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Haleakala from 1958-1962 with no shore duty and with honorable discharge. After he got out of the Military, he worked with his father on the railroad and helped construct the Northway. He worked at Anchor Motor Freight for several years. He started a trucking business that became very successful with the help of his children, growing into the business that became Pilon Water Transport & Towing, supplying Water on the Run for your Swimming Fun for many North Country families for many years. He drove a school bus for Chazy Central Rural School retiring after 21 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 769, VFW Post 1466, 40/8 and Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Linda M Pilon, several grandchildren, nephews, family and friends: his brother Mel of Bethel, Vt., his Children: Mary of Richmond, VA., Richard and Tina of Chazy, Don of Shohola, Pa., Dennis and Jamie of Chazy, Darren & Deneen of West Chazy, Debbie of Shohola, Pa., Darrell and Meagan of Morrisonville, Denise & Kyle of Chazy, Step Daughter Leah & Rene of Myrtle Beach, S.C., He was predeceased by his parents Ephrem & Mary Pilon , his son Doug E Pilon Jr. and a special Aunt Harriet Washburn.
A special Thank you to his caregivers Melissa Macey and Marilyn Daily for the exception Care they gave.
Family will receive guests Saturday February 5, 2022 from9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sacred heart Church in Chazy. A Mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Chazy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Disabled Clinton County Veterans Assistant Fund 137 Margaret Street Plattsburgh, New York.
