Dorrine Provost

It is in our heavy hearts and deep sorrow that our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many, Dorrine Provost peacefully left this world on February 10, 2025 at the young age of 88. She was born in Plattsburgh on January 13, 1937 to the late Clarence LaBelle and Mildred Moore.

Dorrine was very proud of her family and loved each and everyone.

She is survived by Julie Dominy, David (Kathy) Provost, Lori (Dan) Elder, Sheila Rock, Charlene Manor, Michael (Judy) Provost, Sharron (Robert) Boice, Karen (Brent) Blaise, and Clayton S. Provost and his partner Penny. She is also survived by a sister and brother Sheila Moore and Larry (Susan) Moore, 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

Dorrine was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years Clayton R. Provost; her son Carl R. Provost, and a twin brother Darwin (Lois) LaBelle; her parents Clarence LaBelle and Mildred Moore; and a sister Betty (Richard) Grigsby.

Dorrine grew up in Rouses Point, she waitressed at the Saxany, she was a deputy sheriff, and she worked as a crossing guard. Her longtime job as a librarian for the Plattsburgh City School District for 25 years and being a PHS cheerleading coach she loved the most. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was an avid bingo and casino player; she was also a member of the Keeseville Senior Group.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh with reception to follow in the Emmaus Room, with interment to take place in the spring.

The family would like to express their special thanks to Ashley with Hospice of the North Country who went well above and beyond for Dorrine's care.
