Dorothy M. "Dot" Montville

Dorothy May Bashaw Montville, 90 of Westport, NY passed away on March 1st 2021 at the Essex Center in Elizabethtown, NY. Dot was the daughter of Edgar A. and Ethel N (Desourdy) Bashaw born on May, 12th 1930.
She was the third eldest of eleven children. In her younger years she attended school in Willsboro, Lewis and Elizabethtown. On September 5th, 1948 she married Harold (Harry) Montville at St. Philips Neri Church in Westport, NY. They were married 41 years when Harry passed. Dot lost her eyesight many years ago due to Retinitis Pigmentosa, but never stopped her from working beside Harry at the Airport Service Station in Westport, NY or taking care of her children. She had a fantastic memory of family history and loved telling about it. She enjoyed knitting and visiting with all of her grandchildren.
Dot was a loving mother to Bertha (Harvey) Rand, Harold/Junior (Faylene) Montville, John (Penny) Montville, Ralph (Sherry Cuss) Montville, Brenda (Bob) McGee and William A. Montville. Dot was also a loving grandmother to Harvey (Allison) Rand Jr., Vicky (Darrell) Tucker, Teresa (Dennis) Boadway, Christina Moulton, Melissa (Brian) Gough, Chad (Beth) Montville, Jennifer (Nathan) Jacques, Suzette Montville, Scott (Susan) Montville, Christopher (Heidi) Montville, Robert (Brianna) Montville, Randy (Lily) Montville and Karlee (Jacob) Ashe. Dot also had 26 great grandchildren, seven great-great grand children and one more due in September. Dot was survived by five brothers Edgar (Bud), Harry, Verne (Stella), Fred (Chris), and Oril (Sharron) Bashaw. Two sisters Mary Ratliff and Evenlyn Dickinson. Four sister in laws, Mary Jane (Frank) Kyper. Ann Ryan, Nancy Montville and Sandra Mitchell. Plus many nieces and nephews and extended family. Dot was predeceased by her parents, husband Harry, two sons; William and John, her brother William, two sisters Ethel (Chet) Mattox, Julia Annabel (John) Bushey. Her sister and brother in laws Christal Bashaw, Dorothy Bashaw and James Ratliff.
On May 12th, 2021 her services will be held at St. Philips Neri church in Westport, NY at 11:00 am, following with burial at cemetery behind the church. Celebration of her life will follow.
Her family would like to thank all the staff at the Essex Center and her home health aids for their loving care. Donations may be made to the Westport Emergency Squad in Dorothy's memory.
