Donald K. Woodley, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on September 9, 2021. He was born in Altona on November 6, 1939 to Frank and Theresa Woodley.
He attended Altona High School and then entered the Marine Corps from 1957- 1959. After his years of service, he worked at Georgia-Pacific, owned D & D Construction, D & D Candy, operated a machine shop and was a teacher at CV Tech, finally retiring in 1996 from International Paper in Ticonderoga.
Everyone who knew Don will remember his passion for hunting and the outdoors, coaching and helping others, and building and creating. His greatest love and dedication was to his wife of 63 years and the beautiful family that they created, including being Pop to 12 grandchildren, and Old Pop to 17 great-grandchildren.
His memory will be cherished by his wife, Dawn, and four daughters, Jill Woodley Douds, Lori Woodley-LaPier, Shery Woodley, and Julie Woodley. Donald is also survived by his sister Andrea and brothers, Jimmy, Herman, Bobby, Ronnie as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, a sister, Evelyn, and a brother, Gordon.
A Mass celebrating his life will take place on November 6th, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy, followed by a reception in the church hall.
